Yang Changpeng (Chinese:杨昌鹏) (born May 1, 1989) is a Chinese footballer who currently plays for Chengdu Blades.
Yang Changpeng would play for the Wuhan Guanggu youth team until in October, 2006 when he was scouted by Bolton Wanderers and taken on a on a one-month trial where he was dubbed 'China's Peter Crouch' by the British media due to his extremely tall stature.[1] On his return from Britain he would go back to Wuhan Guanggu and eventually go on to graduate to their senior side and make his debut for them in a league game on September 20, 2008 against Shaanxi CSCE.[2] His time at Wuhan was suddenly cut short when the club had a dispute with the Chinese Football Association and decided to pull out of the league and then dissolved, which saw all of the first team loaned or sold off.[3] Being a promising youngster Yang would be loaned out to third tier football club Three Gorges Kangtian before the start of the 2009 league season. When his loan ended Hubei Greenery who were Wuhan Guanggu's successor would buy back the contracts of many of Wuhan's players, which included Yang, however in July 2010 the club would decide to let him transfer to Chengdu Blades.[4]
